Help and support

There’s so much to do and think about in your preparation for starting your studies.

We try to provide as much help and support as possible to make the process of becoming a student straightforward. If you find yourself confused or in need of some help then we're here for you.

To help you get started, whether that’s during the registration process or once you've become a student, here's how you can get help and support.

IT signup

IT sign-up is where you activate you University IT account and gain access to our systems, including email, your online learning and much more.

For best results, IT sign-up and registration should be completed using a computer, rather than a mobile phone or tablet. In the unlikely event that you encounter errors, you can try using another web browser such as Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or Apple Safari.

If you are unable to complete IT signup before you start your course, you can get help from the IT Support Centre, either by telephone on +44 (0) 161 306 5544 or the IT Guest Portal, and our IT Support Centre will help resolve it for you. If you receive an error message (referred to as a ‘halt code’) or if you have previously had an IT account at The University of Manchester, please mention this (and your date of birth) when you get in touch.

Telephone support is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week on +44 (0)161 306 5544.
