Getting started with online learning
As teaching and learning continues online we want to make sure you're equipped with all the right tools and resources.
Online teaching will be delivered through a combination of our virtual learning environment (VLE) Blackboard and video software like Zoom and Microsoft Teams. The exact methods of delivery will vary from course to course and you’ll receive more about this from your School.
If you're new to using platforms such as Blackboard, Microsoft Teams or Zoom, or if you would like a refresher, we’ve pulled together a list of guides to support you with using this technology, which can be found on the Student Support pages. These support pages also contain information on how to access Library services online and resources like My Learning Essentials, the Library's award-winning skills programme.
Getting started with My Manchester
Blackboard, as well as many other tools you’ll need to access throughout your time at University, can be accessed through our student portal My Manchester. To access My Manchester you’ll need your student username and password.
Have a look at the Guide to My Manchester pages which will help you understand its main functions.
Getting online
If you're having difficulties accessing the University network, or need advice and support with accessing online services our IT services team can provide you with the technical support you need to make the most of your online learning.
Tips from current students
In the video below three of our current students share their advice on creating a community with your coursemates whilst studying online. They also discuss how they’ve worked with academic staff over summer to help ensure we’re delivering the best teaching and learning experience possible.
