Drop-in and regular activities

In addition to our bookable events we’ve got lots of activities happening during the week that you can drop-in at any time, or are happening more than once, so if you’re busy one day you can join the next.

Start of year fair

There is plenty of help and support on offer during your studies – it’s just knowing where to find it. At the Start of Year Fair find out how you can make the most of Manchester and get plenty of advice on matters around your learning, health, finances, and welfare.

Food markets

Come along and enjoy the very best in Manchester street food, produce, coffee and confections. On Tuesday the popular Levy Market will be returning on Humanities Bridgeford Street, while Wednesday will showcase The Market traders inside University Place.

Join the Student Wellbeing Team for a day of wellbeing activities at WellFest. Take a break in the chill-out zone at the stretch tent on Gilbert Lawn, get involved in activities such as art and movement for wellbeing, meet other students and grab a free cup of tea.

Student development

At Manchester you’ll find a whole range of transformational extra-curricular activities. During Welcome, visit the pop-up stand on Brunswick Park to find out more about volunteering, Stellify, Ethical Grand Challenges and University College of Interdisciplinary Learning.

Get Started with the Library

Stop by the Main Library to visit our Get Started space which explains how to find and borrow resources, where to study, how to use Library PCs, how to print, scan and copy and how to access training and skills support.

University Language Centre – Academic Success Programme

Whether or not English is your first language, the University Language Centre has a range of support for you. During Welcome there are some taster workshops to give you a chance to try the Academic Success Programme.

Session will be taking place both online and on campus.

Teatime with the International Society

Enjoy a tradition English Tea with the International Society on Sunday, 19 September or drop into the daily Welcome Teatime throughout the week to have a cuppa and meet new people.

Think, draw, do!

Witness an exciting art intervention by artist Leanne Van come to life  shaped by great speakers. See the story of our new buildings (one of the biggest projects ever in UK higher education) take shape across the week – based on the words of architects, engineers, project managers, students, academics and many more. What happens next in the story is up to you, with an opportunity to pledge your part in crafting a sustainable future.
