    Miriam Firth, Course Director

May I start by congratulating you on your exam results - it’s a fantastic achievement, well done! We are pleased to be able to confirm your place on our programme and welcome you to The University of Manchester.

The whole team are looking forward to meeting you all and getting to know you over the next three years. BA (Hons) Management, Leadership and Leisure is becoming increasingly popular with applications and student numbers are higher than ever. This really is an exciting time for you to be joining us, and The University of Manchester.

We still consider ourselves a small team, with a mixture of full-time and part-time staff, all with our own teaching, and industry expertise. We pride ourselves on our diversity, as leisure becomes more global, we are attracting students from all over the world. With a diverse body of students, you will have an enriched student experience which offers fantastic networking opportunities in your cohort, as well as our cohorts studying the degree in year two and three.

Despite knowing you have made the right choice, you will probably have lots of questions to ask. We are here to listen and answer these during Welcome Week activities and throughout the teaching weeks in the academic year. We are delighted to offer you a range of induction events in Welcome Week to support answering these queries. These will all be available online so please do not worry if you arrive late or cannot attend on campus, we are supporting you all at this time by ensuring all content will be online. However, this means we need you to take note of all emails and messages sent to you as these are vital to aid your start on the programme. Please link your email addresses to your smartphones, laptops and tablets and ensure your university email address is checked daily for new emails and information relating to your studies with us.

May I take this opportunity to wish you the very best for your forthcoming studies. I look forward to meeting you all personally in the coming months.
