Welcome events
We have plenty of activities planned for Welcome Week to help you get to know campus, discover our services and get settled in.
Take a look at our on-campus events, tours and activities below, visit our teaching and learning page to prepare for your studies, and explore the city with our 100 things to do in Manchester.
Manchester Students' Union
At Manchester Students' Union Freshers Fortnight you can get involved in trips, socials, live music, fairs, nights out, days in and so much more.
The Students' Union runs events for Manchester students throughout the year, and you can also get involved in the SU's societies and activities.
We've highlighted some of the key SU Welcome events below, and you can also visit the Exhibition Space in the Students' Union Building to buy a plant (22-23 September) or purchase a poster (29 September to 3 October) and personalise your new digs.
Give them a follow on Instagram (@manchester_su) and TikTok (@manchestersu) for up-to-date information on what's happening, or sign up to their mailing list.
Get your All Access Freshers wristband
The SU's All Access Freshers wristband gives you access to a variety of events and venues across Manchester. The wristband is only available through official SU channels. Please be wary of joining unofficial group chats or buying wristbands or tickets for unaffiliated events, and follow the SU's guidance to avoid scams.
Purchase your wristband through the SU.
Manchester International Society
The International Society is part of The University of Manchester’s Student Union and is here to help both home and international students settle into student life and make new friends.
The International Society hosts a range of weekly socials, large events and trips throughout the year. We’ve listed some of their Welcome events below – for a full list of events and activities, visit the International Society website.
