Sport and active lifestyles

Getting involved in sport is a great way to stay fit, make lifelong friendships and enjoy life outside of your academic studies.

Sport and fitness at Manchester isn't just about Athletic Union teams. You'll find a huge variety of physical activities, sports and facilities to suit every individual lifestyle.

Free sporting activities

There are a number of different programmes you can get involved in to play sport on campus, whether you're a beginner or our next aspiring Olympian or Paralympian. Get out and try something new with Sporticipate – free activities on campus and in halls of residence that take place each week and are aimed at complete beginners or those looking to try a new sport.

Team sports

Keep up your sport or try a new one in a relaxed, social environment with Campus Sport. There are more than 365 teams in campus leagues, with weekly fixtures against other Manchester students across seven different sports. Alternatively, if you're looking to compete and excel with fellow athletes in your field of choice, you can take a look UoM Sport – 40-plus sports clubs in the Athletic Union.

Virtual fitness

If you prefer to get active at a time and place that suits you, check out #ActiveAnywhere, which includes live and pre-recorded workouts, Zoom classes and weekly challenges. In addition we'll be offering more personalised training with our fitness team, Q&A sessions with our physiotherapist and more strength and conditioning sessions designed by our coaches.
