Finding your way around campus
The University is located on the south side of Manchester city centre. You can find your way around our campus using our interactive map.
All of our buildings are in the same general area of the city and are within easy walking distance of each other, making getting around our campus simple.
There are regular shuttle buses to pick up and drop off students at various points around the campus. These are also highlighted on the campus map.
Travelling around Manchester
For such a major city, Manchester is surprisingly simple to get around safely. The city centre is accessible on foot, one of our many frequent buses from campus, or you can use the cycle lanes and travel around quickly by bike.
Walking
Situated on Oxford Road, our campus is within easy walking distance on the city centre. You can download the Safezone app to stay connected with Campus Support and Security, and you can also download the WalkSafe+ app to plan safe routes to your destination and share your location with friends.
Cycling
There is a convenient cycling link between the city centre, our Oxford Road campus and Fallowfield, with cycle lanes that are separated from motor vehicles. Bike stands are available around campus.
If you want to start cycling, support and training is available from both our University and Transport for Greater Manchester.
We offer subsidised bike hire for students through Biko Bikes and second-hand bike sales at our Owens Park Campus, as well as free or subsidised bike lock schemes.
The Bee Network cycle hire scheme is also available for student use. A docking station is situated opposite the gates of Owens Park Campus.
Starling Bank Bikes are situated around the city and can be unlocked and used through a mobile app. Affordably priced and readily available, these bikes are a great way to get around Manchester. Find out more about Starling Bank Bikes.
Getting the bus or tram
The Bee Network app can help you plan your bus and tram journeys within Manchester. It shows you the live location of buses, as well as how busy they are. At affordable prices, the Bee Network integrates trams and buses and has a daily price cap. You can catch the Bee Network's 147 bus for free between north and south campus.
Getting a taxi
Apps like Uber and Bolt are highly accessible in Manchester, but we also offer a Safe Taxi Scheme with Street Cars, meaning you can get home even if you’ve ran out of money.
