Getting started - your first week

We’re delighted to welcome you to Manchester’s dental community!

Welcome Week

Your first week with us, Welcome Week (22–26 September), includes a series of induction activities designed to help you settle in, meet your fellow students, and get to know the academic staff who’ll be supporting you throughout your studies.

This is a great opportunity to find your feet, ask questions, and start building the friendships and skills that will support you over the years ahead. From team-building sessions and your official welcome to the Division, to the Affirmation Ceremony, everything is in place to help you start your dental school journey on the right foot.

Programme start date

The official start date for the programme is Monday 22 September 2025.

This marks the beginning of key induction sessions, training, and teaching, so it’s important that you’re in Manchester and ready to attend your timetabled sessions from this date.

We understand, however, that some students may experience unavoidable delays, such as visa issues, that affect their arrival. If this applies to you, please don’t worry. Just get in touch with us as soon as possible at sms.ify@manchester.ac.uk, and we’ll do our best to support you.
