A warm welcome to all our new students arriving at The University of Manchester.

This website will guide you through the next steps of the entry process to help you achieve a smooth transition into student life.

A warm welcome from the Academic Lead

I want to say a big hello from everyone involved in the School of Medical Sciences International Foundation Programme at The University of Manchester.

We are really looking forward to welcoming and meeting you at the start of your programme in a few weeks' time.

During the coming academic year, we are going to build your scientific knowledge, expose you to different styles of teaching and learning, and guide you to develop the skills needed to successfully join our undergraduate MBChB, BDS or Pharmacy programmes.

It will be hard work – but I promise that it is going to be fun!

In the meantime, enjoy the rest of your summer and I look forward to seeing you in Manchester soon.

There is a lot to take in before you start, so we've put together this checklist to help you keep track of the key information and actions on this site:

• Take a look at your programme's Welcome Week timetable (available by 7 September 2026).
• Note the start date of the course and ensure you'll be in Manchester.
• Work through your induction courses on Canvas.  
• Sign up for activities taking place in Welcome Week.
