How your course will be delivered

Induction

The International Foundation Programme is taught within the School of Medical Sciences in partnership with Xaverian College.

International Foundation programme students will have a two-week induction period, starting with the central university induction in the week beginning 11 September 2023, which will be online. Details can be found via the main Welcome events pages.

The International Foundation Programme course induction will start from the week beginning 18 September, where students are introduced to all elements of the programme and will meet their groups and teaching staff.

For this programme, all students are required on campus from 18 September. Details of the course induction week will be provided in your registration welcome emails in early September.

If you have issues regarding arrangements from your home country, you are required to contact the Admissions Team.

Teaching and learning

The Foundation Year programme is delivered in partnership with Xaverian College, where teaching will take place on their campus. Lectures delivered by the University may be able to be recorded or delivered online if required. Xaverian College will make their own arrangements to support students should students not be able to attend a Xaverian College class.

The majority of our teaching will be via face-to-face sessions. Alternate provision may be able to be made for students who are self-isolating in line with government guidelines but well enough to engage with online content.

All lectures will be delivered either face to face (in the first instance), live online or using pre-recorded lectures.

Our Enquiry Based Learning sessions will be delivered face-to-face on campus, in small groups of up to 14 students.

Laboratory skills will take place on campus.

You will also have weekly language/academic skills classes at the University campus, which will be taught either online or face to face.
